Welcome to The Learning Centre


The Learning Centre provides academic guidance and support for all Curtin students, both undergraduate and postgraduate. The Centre offers free seminar programs conducted by expert lecturers in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Undergraduate workshops have been extended to 18 December 2011.

Undergraduate workshops running from 10 October - 7 November, 2011

Mondays

  • Imagining Health Writing Workshop. Mondays from 12-1. Room 216.
  • Academic Integrity workshop. Tips on improving paraphrasing, summarising and referencing. You can also bring along current or past assignments and check and correct any referencing errors. Mondays from 2-3 in Room 216.
  • Assignment writing workshops. Bring 3-4 copies of your current assignments. Work on editing and proof-reading these with other students, under the supervision of a Learning Centre Lecturer. Mondays 4-5 in Room 216. For more information on Assignment writing workshops please click here

Tuesdays

  • Assignment writing workshops. Bring 3-4 copies of your current assignments. Work on editing and proof-reading these with other students, under the supervision of a Learning Centre Lecturer. Tuesdays from 9-10 in Room 226. For more information on Assignment writing workshops please click here
  • Exam Preparation workshop. Pick up tips on alleviating exam anxiety and on answering multiple choice, short and long answer questions. You can also bring in practice answers to exam questions which will be checked for grammar, syntax, spelling and punctuation. Tuesdays from 12-1 in Room 216.
  • English for Professional Practice: This program aims to support students to further develop the communication skills required for successful communication in the workplace or while on practicum. Tuesdays from 3-5 in Room 216. For outcomes of the program visit Information for students

Thursdays

How to Register for Seminars

Step One
Click on the Our Programs tab at the top of the home page to view a summary of all our programs.  Each program description links to a full description of the seminars and the dates and times seminars are offered this semester.

Step Two
Click on the REGISTER NOW button and follow the prompts.

Confirmation of registration:
You will receive an email confirmation and reminder of the seminar through your student email account.
